There are two laws of thermodynamics.
1.) Energy can not be created or go away. It can only be changed.
2.) Energy changes are not good. They loose a lot of energy.

The first law means that energy can not be made. It also can not go away. Energy will always be here, but it can be changed.
For example: A balloon has energy in it when it is blown up. When the balloon deflates, the energy goes out of the balloon into the air.
The second law means that when the energy changes, it is not good. It is bad because it looses energy when it changes.
For example: When you bounce a ball, energy is lost through the sound, friction, and heat it has one the ball, making it come to a stop.
